In collecting and translating this garland of proverbs and words of wisdom, my aim was to bring it to a larger public in the world, so that the knowledge of it should not remain limited to orientalists as well as to a privileged elite of intellectuals, for the collections translated up to now are too academic (and so without flavour) having been aimed in advance to that sort of reader.
